Go with the motorcraft plugs. Their the best. What ever you do never and I mean never use Autolite plugs. There are alot of people out their with horror stories about them breaking off and going into the cylinder. Also they don't last. If you shop ebay you can usally get a set of 8 Motorcrafts for around 60 bucks.
Replacement is required when WTS light is not illuminated for proper time or the GPs fail the test(s). Hard starting is encountered with much white smoke at startup.
What do you guys think about replacing G/P's that are just old. My class C M/H with 7.3 IDI N/A has just about 52K on it but it's a 93. Starts great even when cold but should I replace them just cause there 12 years old???
If it was me, I would replace with motorcraft if they are another brand. I think after twelve years I would replace them anyway, but there are probably different opinions on that.
replaced old g/p's with autolite before i found fte and read all the posts on g/p, the autolites quit after 2 months, tip had started to swell already. pulled them out and returned them to napa, got my 92.92 back went to autozone paid 76.95 for the motorcraft zd9 at 8.99e + tax. SO HAPPY THAT THEY DID NOT BREAK OFF INSIDE!
There is a name on them but I don't know if you can get close enough to see it. It is not hard to pull one out. Be careful not to pull on the wires. Get something under the cap to pry it up off the gp. Then unscrew the gp like spark plug. Remember to use anti sieze on the threads. Torque is 12 ft. lbs. You can do a search and find out more about the gps and controller etc.
