Exclamation help please

i have a 351m v8 and i am experiencing problems. My truck was running fine about 2 days ago, but all of the sudden I am ecperiencing whats seems to be a lack of torque and it is having a hard time changing gears. I just had the whole tranny rebuilt and dont suspect any major problems there. There is a small amount of oil (or perhaps trans. fluid) leaking around the converter drain plug area. Is it a compression problem?

If it was running fine before you had the tranny rebuilt, I would call up the place that rebuilt the tranny and see what they have to say.

I'd go back to the tranny shop and let them look at it if there's any sort of warranty with the rebuild. Possible just the modulator valve vacuum hose came off, but you never know.

thanx for relplying

hey thanx for the replies--I'm a novice mechanic so bare with me-- the truck changes gears at a high rpm ---i'll have the gas pedal all the way to the floor---
can this have anything to do with the engine--I ask because the engine has a hard time idling (I usually have to continue gas it to keep it running)I was kinda suspecting compression troubles before I actually pulled out of my drive way and encountered the tranny problem---once again thanx for your help---
---and my tranny is under warranty-it has a 1 year warranty and it was fixed about 3 months ago --no problems at all until now.I am avoiding calling the guy because he has not been very cooperative in the past.

The shifts are controlled by the modulator valve. The modulator valve hooks to manifold vacuum, so if there is a leak in the line, that could explain the rough idle.

No shifting + rough idling = vacuum leak 'cause the modulator's vacuum line is off.
