Hi, I have a 2000,F250 Superduty, the passener air bag switch indicator light does not come on when the passenger air bag is disabled,
When I start the truck the airbag warning light flashes "27", Does anybody know what this code means,i would very much appreciate if somebody could tell me,Thanks... ( georgiejr@alltel.net )
Code 27? do you mean the light flashes twice - then seven times. Like the old style codes. If so, my 99 f-150 just started doing the same thing for no obvious reason. I will be looking into it and will let ya know if I figure it out. - Have you found anything new on yours?
thats right as soon as I start the engine ,The Air bag light flashes twice, then seven times.it repeats this about 4 - 5 times then stays on,still havent found out anything yet
KBDDBD, if I cant find anything out here I'm gonna break downand take it to the dealer
Code #27 means the passenger indicator switch buld has burned out. I replaced it with a new dealer unit ($62) and it resolved the problem. I took the old unit apart and found out is is a filament bulb soldered onto a pcb board. I replaced the old bulb with one from radio shack for .37 cents and am keeping it as a spare. The factory should splurge and use leds for applications like this - it would save us a lot opf hassle.
KBDDBD,thanks for that information,I havent checked the forum for awhile and just noticed your post ,I will try changing the bulb like you did ,And thanks again for the reply
KBDDBD, I replaced the bulb in the passenger airbag switch as you described and for $1.64 and about 15 minutes time the problem was solved ,thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my post,it has saved me a lot of aggrevation and money
Sorry for the slow response. I just figure out this is sending messages to my old email. I was happy to post and help out. Thats what I love about this board. It has helped me many times and for the first time I was able to help others. Actually, I found the code from another kinda unrelated post and figure it out that way. Saved again!!

Where you stick the key in to turn the passenger side airbag on and off if you take your dash off and take that mechanism out you open that mechanism up get you a replacement number 74 bulb cut the old bulb off and solder that new bulb into place and you do not spend $60 some dollars you spend six problem fixed
I finally realized that my airbag light was flashing code 27 and I read this thread. I offer a few photos showing how I soldered in a #37 bulb to fix this issue.
After you pull the dash surround out, you’ll need a 5.5mm socket to withdraw 3 screws that …
secure the black plastic assembly to the back of the dash surround,
You use a small flat head screwdriver to carefully pop up the tabs and lift a cover (seen on the top in this view) on one side of the box to access the PCB.
Here’s the small circuit board with a small bulb soldered in. Note a thin plastic sleeve over the glass bulb. If this bulb is burned out then the dash airbag light throws the 27 code.
The bulb I sweated off the PCB. I carefully got the yellow plastic sleeve off of it and put that on the new bulb after soldering was done.
I had a variety of small bulbs on hand but I thought that these tiny #37 bulbs were the closest to what I removed.
At start up you get a solid airbag light for a few seconds along with…
a solid (newly replaced) passenger airbag light. After hearing a short beep these bulbs go out. If you rotate the key switch to the “off” position, then that small bulb will stay lit. I’d rather not burn it out too soon, so my passenger air bag can stay on!
