Error in system, have the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) read by competent able mechanic, (Ford).

A common problem for air bag light flashing is a burned out light on the passenger air bag disable switch.

If the airbag lamp is still flashing and then staying lit, then there is a two-digit code stored. Counting the flashes and it tells you the code number. For example, code 27 would be two flashes, a pause, and then seven flashes.

Ditto. Been through this on my 99. Instead of $100 plus for a new board in the switch go to Radio Shack or others and pickup a new bulb and solder it in yourself for less than $3.00.
