hello there i own a 94.5 psd and am wondering what other cheap mods i can do to it i already done the 10k mod with switch, shimed the fpr and iam going to put a modified air intake on it.please reply thanks.
Get a 3" down pipe. Around 100 bucks and helps alot. It'll go good with the new intake. Also knock the guts out of the Cat while your down their. You can also gut the exhaust back pressure valve but where you live it might not be something you want to do.(COLD) HPX crossover is not a power mod but does help the truck idle and run better. about 30-40 bucks.

thanks for your reply where can i get a 3"down pipe and is this the flat pipe that runs off the turbo?
I guess its possible, but it needs to be bent just right to go down between the firewall and tranny. I've never heard of anybody doing it but theirs always a first.
The local muffler place here gets 270 bucks for a downpipe installed. I bought mine for 90 and put it in myself, but I have all the equipment to do so. That make the difference for some of us.
If I was you, my 95 saw way more improvements from getting the cat off. I gutted the cat first and ran for a while like that to see how much it changed things. Then I removed the muffler and the rest of the exhaust system and put new DP and straight 4" pipe. Didn't see that much a change like that. Getting the cat out of the exhaust made the bigger change, but by going with the new DP and the 4" straight pipe sure made her sound good and setup for the other improvements later.
Easy enough to remove the cat and just knock all the media out and then bolt back up till funds are available for more goodies. A couple hours on a nice afternoon will be more than enough... That alone will give you seat of the pants improvements.
The muffler on the early strokes is a straight threw design, so not lots of gain from what I saw, it does allow for more boost at upper speeds though with less turbulence in the exhaust system.
The sound was the biggest gain from removing the muffler, the 7.3's are not really that loud, it is a different sound all together from what your use to. Best thing would be to find some buddy there who has removed his and have him drive off from you while you stand there and listen.
You get to really hear the turbo and how it affect the exhaust pumping the air through the motor. I was one who never really thought to much about the extra noise being something I got over years ago, this is just a good sound if you ask me and a good thing for the diesel as it allows for a more smoother flowing exhaust.
Now that sould help things out, the air intake system is a good idea. The factory OE air box for the filter is not a very good setup and have been known to let raw air into the motor and they surely limit the amount of air to the PSD. Let us hear how things work out for you, I will curious to hear how you like all that.
