I have read that cummins is coming out with two new engines that are going to be on the market in 2008. One of them is a V-8 and one is a V-6 not sure on the exact displacement off the top of my head but I will find the article again. The thing about Ford owning a part of cummins is true they own a small amout that happend around 98-99. I guess when there contract with Navistar expires and the Cummins and dodge contract expires we will have to see if it is all rumors or what. Nard to say but for now I am keeping my 7.3

Old vs New> 7.3vs 6.0 etc

I have a 02 7.3 with 100K mi.and following some tried and true hot rod things have vastly improved the take off and power for that engine. It's an air pump guys get the air to it with no restrictions and the colder the better. Look at the intake air tubing and modify it to the frount of the engine. Next let it out ie, a 4" exhaust and big down pipe. The stock turbo can then spool up real fast and boost all that cold air you let in the other end. My milage really inproved with the new exhaust, from 11 up to 17mpg. Look at the vacuum at the turbo side of the air filter box. Got it down to less than 1 inch of vacuum at full pull. Trying to get some ram air boost at speed now with the shape of the inlet.
As to the 6.0, my daughter used the lemmon law to exchange her 04 for a new 05 and all looks guite good for the moment. Ford was nice but tough about the whole deal. The problem was in the valve train and ford fixed it once and then nothing ran the same ever again. Leads me tobelieve that they were pinching pennies or their teks don't know how to work on a diesel. Maby a little of both.
Lastly does any body have the thred for the 10K mod, and the method to defeat the waste gate for a little more boost. I had them and can't fined the notes.

If I heard correctly, Ford owns Cummins. Mercedes who owns Dodge was thinking about putting Mercedes diesel in Dodge trucks. Also heard that Cummins was working on a V8 diesel. Makes for interesting developments and speculation. Go FORD. I only want a FORD for my next truck but if current situation remains the same, I may look at DODGE. Have to have the service. Do not want get stranded on a run. COULD hold on to my 02 and spend the money for extensive rebuilds. I expect to average about 140k per year. 36k now. My dream would be to buy an 08 with the new Tonka sheet metal and revised interior.

Exciting times ahead.

Yah I guess you havent heard all the people with duramaxes. They have some fuel injection issues with bad injectors. There not fool proof as well. Do you have a superduty now. Well Ive been in a Chebby with the interior and I was not impressed. The superduty is hard to beat as far as interior room. In the Chevy I felt cramped. The vision with the tow mirrors and cutout window is unbeatable. Chevy cant match it. Yeh the 6.0s pronblemsare riving some people to Chevy. But people really hate to do it. They know when switchuing that the Chevy wont match up. Dont let me persuade you one way or another. Just telling you my thoughts. Chevies also had some steering clunk issues that has plagued them for several years that they havent resolved as well as they could. Read the GM forums before you make a descision. Then if your confortable make your descision accordingly.

And then you could be like one of my friends, he has a Duratrash and it needed new injectors. When he went to pick it up the bill was 6500 dollars. I think I'll push my Ford first.

I have a '97, ride is harsh compared to new trucks, mirrors suck for towing, no good replacement options for that year unless you want to mount a tri-pod to your door, no intercooler, looks like the main is starting to leak ...

Appreciate your input, I like Fords, kind of disappointed at the 6.0L problems and the fact they still don't have them fixed but more ****ed about how I have seen 1st hand and heard from others about how they are treated when they have these problems ... one may be able to swallow it if they treated them decent ...
