a buddy of mine who is having problems with his new 6.0 was told by the dealer that ford is thinking of going back to the 7.3?? anyone else heard anything/ ive heard it from a couple people actually. also ive heard from some people that it doesnt have as much low end.
I have heard Ford is looking at a compromise and may come out with a 6.7L in 2007. Anyone else heard this rumor??
The last rumor that had any credence said bored/stroked 6.0 out to 6.4L, with twin turbos (presumably fixed turbos instead of the VGT), coming out as a 2007 model year engine.
The 7.3L is much better then the 6.0L in my opinion. The 7.3L autos are kinda slow, but with a 5 or 6 speed they kick butt. Huge powerloss with the automatic. The mileage is much better with the standard also.
I also heard that ford was in talks with cummins from my local ford dealer???? Don't know if its true or not. They said that the contract with international was up in a few years and they were talking to cummins

I think I'm gonna start saving my change just in case.
I know several people with new chebbys and they don't have any complaints. I'm in the market for a new truck, if Ford doesn't get their act together and with Chebby's 0% ... they are making it tough to stick with a Ford
Why not keep your good old HD PSD? How come you need a new truck? The monthly payments on the new trucks is pretty scary, I mean $500 a month! Ouch! I think ill stick with my "old" Ford Pickups.

Just put close to 2k in little stuff that needed replacing, new trucks have a much better ride, shorter turning radius, more HP/Torque, just got a boat that may require a different tow package... rather than putting a bunch more money combined with all the above its worth at least considering. I agree though...the scary price tag is exactly why I don't have one right now.
Ford does no own Cummins in any way. Fords F-650's and up have cummins in them, but that is becasue Ford buys the engine from Cummins and puts em in. Bricot, I still say keep your truck, the 2k youve put into in repairs is all the more reason to keep it, if you dont like something about it, just modify it, makes an old truck much more fun to drive.
Untill July 1, 2001 I was a GM man. Or at least I had owned 5 new ones in a row. I Had a 6.5 TD, GM Screwed Me on the warranty and I tested the duracrap. It was $6,550.00 more that what I bought Mobey for!! I have 195,350 miles on it and all I have had to replace is a starter and both Batteries!! I also think the 7.3 is the best motor but I think you can get good 6.0s. As long as Ford doesn't go with Cummins I will be driving Fords!!
I am holding out to buy a new truck untill ford gets the 6.0 fixed, have a 99 f350 srw, cc, 7.3 with 147500 mi, have had no problems with the engine at all! i hear that ford is changing the bodystyle in 07, so maybe engine changes too. in my opinion the 7.3 could be made to meet the new emmissions standards they just needed to change the engine driver programs. I think ford jumped the gun to match the "new" duramax and the "new" cummins, smaller cubic inch isnt always the best for the long hall and longeviety
