You must have the California model... You should be able to buy a resistor with the same impedence as the EGR valve. I'm not sure what the impedence would be for that part.
Starting with CEL off, I plugged into a dummy EGR for off-road use in a California version O4'. CEL light was off for 4 starts, then came on for 4 starts then has been off ever since. Power seemed down a little when the CEL was on but has come back with CEL off. My friend who is a diesel mechanic says that they do go into a de-rated power mode when the computer sees an out-of-range perameter. My truck had some fumes in the cab today though. That makes me madder then anything. I will just have to floor it and make the burning rubber tire stink so that will cover up the fumes in the cab.

I have an 04 live in cal. I made A alluminum plug for egr, then mounted valve to plug with wires pluged in. Engine light still came on, I think the presure switch on exhaust dose'nt see A presure drop, and turn on engine light.

Did you happen to get the code when the light came on? I'd like to compare it with the one(s) that come on when the plug is simply unplugged.
Hi the code that i got on mine when my light came on when i unpluged my egr was P0403 (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circ Error) and P0405 (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sens A Circ Low) I hope some wiz does figure out how to make that stupid light go out because i would love to leave it unpluged.
