My troubles started about a year ago with a bad FICM. I burned up a couple of glow plugs cycling the key on and off to get my '06 to start. I soldered the FICM and all was good until the EGR valve started sticking. Cleaning didn't help so I put in a Bostech rebuilt. That worked for a month then P0402 code and smoke at acceleration from a stop. Thinking there was a bigger issue, I disconnected the EGR and plugged a dummy valve in to keep my fan operating properly.
Keep in mind that I've had a CEL on this whole time-
Insufficent EGR flow,
P0672,P0674, P0678
Picked up a new EGR and glow plugs from Dieselfiltersonline, a harness from Tousley, a tool from Amazon, and some 9100 and 6200 and viola!
No more check engine light and smooth running!
No smoke, power like new. Got her with 11 miles and she has never been flashed.
Currently at 172,000 miles and next week a 4" turbo back straight pipe and soon after I will do the Atlas 80 from Ed.
Thanks to you gents for giving me all the info to bring my truck back to life!!!
