I ordered an F250 Supercab, V10, 8', 4X4 and more on Feb 18. I still don't have a VIN, dealer said at first 9 days deliver in 6-8 weeks. Now they say VIN in 5 weeks and not sure of deliver but they will try to honor the .9% financing on 48 months and the price. Hard to imagine that the dealer's don't have any access to the status of the order.

Until it has production schedule, they really don't. This early model-year change has everyone screwed up- dealers included.
After talking to the fellow that does the ordering at one of the local dealerships, I now know why or how these trucks get equipped so stupidly. The guy is a total idiot.I was asking about SD's new Tow Command Package and he said oh nobody will want that? This is the same guy that does not believe in ordering limited slip rear axles. The entire lot has all of these 4x4's sitting there with open rear ends. There should be a law against ruining a perfectly good vehicle like that.I don't know about you, but if I am buying a $40K dollar truck I want the limited slip rear axle. These type of people need trained or fired. Good Luck!
For a small fee, I'd be willing to consult. Ordering and managing an inventory is tough, though (try juggling Chevy and Ford sometime- it's hilarious). Even if you have a fair idea of what customers are buying (and that's a moving target), the manufacturers will pile production constraints on top of you to work around.
That limited-slip/tow command story is wild though. In a decent sized dealership, that kind of thinking could cost a dealer $100K/yr in additional flooring expense alone.

Polarbear Posting Guru, You know the thing that amazes me is how the owners of these (some) dealerships have these type of people as business managers.I think some of them would be better suited selling shoes for a living.I always overlook the sales staff because I am used to them not knowing their merchandise but the business managers should know there product and what people/customers want.Good Luck!
