engine swap in a 4x4
#16
The eec is the computer, need a 351 computer for a 351 efi engine. Yes some have said they kept the 302 eec and it worked fine but I wouldn't trust it in the long run especially on a speed density system. With the wrong eec you won't be putting in enough fuel so it will be running lean, which is not good(i.e. bad). Need a different timing chain cover because you're talking about a carb'd engine which uses a diff style timing chain cover so the accessory brackets and water pump won't bolt up like they're supposed to if you want to keep the serpentine belt, which you should. This is probably also what Kem was talking about with the accessory brackets.

The windsor I am using already has all the belts and pulleys installed. Does this mean that I won't NEED to change the timing cover?
I have the upper and lower manifolds, the new distributor, new oil pan and pick-up. Aside from the eec and new cam is there anything else I am going to have to buy to get this thing running?

Ah. I am going to swap all the efi off of the 302 and onto the 351. I think I have everything now, aside from the cam. I was out to look at the bronco today (it's not at home yet) and it is running seperate belts (not serpentine), so I am assuming that the cover will be the same anyhow. The windsor is running a 'LeMans' cam in it right now. My dad has no idea what the specs are on it now, it has been far too long since he last thought about it. I wonder if a performance carb cam, will work in there. probably not.
