Hi guys, I've heard about this BBK 56mm throttle body and was wondering how good they are. My TB is about junk and was wondering about fuel mileage with the BBK. Any input would be appreciated. Thanx.
i hear they are great tb but with out other components to go with it like headers and free flowing exhaust it really wont show that big of an improvement.
Quicker throttle response is clearly the most noticeable change. Larger throttle bores and throttle plate design show added HP at high RPM (according to Mr. Dyno) but I don't spend a whole lot of time running around above 3500 RPM.
Thanks guys, I've opened up the exhaust a little with a high flow cat and muffler. MSD 6A box and coil. I would like the MSD distributor and some headers but money is very short. I work construction in AZ and I don't work when it rains. If you have seen the news around here, I have mised a lot of work since Nov. Thanks for the input. I think I will try it as soon as I can afford one. The cheapest I have found was $319.00 through Summit.
My 95 351 had headers and K&N cone filter before I put on the BBK 56mm TB, and the throttle response over the stock TB is awesome. On the freeway I can merge and pass without waiting for my engine to get up the rpms. The BBK comes without the IAC and TPS, so I got new ones from the ford parts counter.
Donehojo , dont spend any money on an msd dizzy. those arent necessary unless your putting out some serious hp/trq. headers are for sure your next step just dont skimp on price because the quality will bite you. go into your control panel and fill out your signature with the perticulars on your rig like year, motor, tranny and any mods you have done. this helps us help you better.
If your existing TB is bad then upgrade for sure. The 56mm TB by itself really didnt make a difference in anything except moved my power curve up a little bit. I have a little more top end and a little less bottom. This upgrade really starts to take effect with manifold/head changes.
