I bought a Leer 100 xq shell for my 05 F-150 and the rear glass is not curved enough for a proper fit. The installer said that the tailgates on the new Fords are bowed and that the glass on the shell are straight?? I have contacted Leer and they asked me to send pictures. I emailed them today so hopefully I should have a reply early next week. They even mentioned that they may want the shell sent back for a test fit. Other than the rear glass, the shell looks great and the color match could not of been better.
I have the 100 R, yep same thing. You have a different latch set up and the framless glass right?? The ill fit may be less of a problem for the 100 R because of the seperate latches at the corners.
Would you mind posting a pic or putting one in your gallery? I was getting ready to pull the trigger on a Leer 100XQ as well. Don't want to drop $1500 if it looks like crap!
Had the hardest time getting pictures to post but finally got some added to my gallery. Hopefully they will fix this. I will update after they let me know what they are going to do about this.
Wow, that isn't even close to being right! It almost looks like they put the wrong window in from the factory. Let me know if Leer helps you out. I'm not going to order one if that's the way they're "supposed" to look. Oh, and thanks for uploading the pics!
Based upon my experience with a Jason shell on my old 2000 Screw, it looks like a non-curved window, as others said, and maybe a less than perfect installation. The Jason shell I had, had a curved window to match the tailgate, but the window only curved partially, and a plastic edge on the lower edge of the window mated the window lip to the tailgate. It fit very well, except the corners that allowed you to stick your fingers in as your gallery shows the Leer allows. I think that's the price you pay for the new styling. The same glass probably fits another truck and it's a compromise on Leer's part... and yours. If you think it's bad, take a look at a Super Duty sometime. I have a lid that you could stick your thumb in between the lid and tailgate where the tailgat/bed joints are. I do agree that $1500 for a shell should result in a better fit, though. Please let us know what Leer decides. I'm looking at one for my next rig, too.
Sort of an interesting thread! ... over a year ago ... Leer was the only one that had frameless glass and actually the only rail wrap topper for the new f150 ... was thinking of waiting for the ARE ... but just couldn't! Probably a good thing as a couple others that I talked to said they had problems on hard bed flex with that topper where it wraps the cab and hitting with a good smack every once in awhile! My truck sees a lot of back country.
My back glass looks quite different than those pictures posted ... WOW! I can only say that the Leer I got has been through some nasty conditions and I've no complaints yet!
So is this a one time problem for a Leer shell? I've got the $ to get one, but I will hold off until I know this isn't a regular thing. Or just look for a different brand.
I've got the Leer on my truck and the fit is totally different. The glass fits well into the rear of the canopy and the weather seal on the bottom sits about halfway on the plastic strip on the top of the gate.Great quality.Only problem I've had is that the weather seal must have been installed on glass that wasn't perfectly clean, and came off early.Leer replaced the seal, but for me I think I'm going to do away with it and install a strip of 1x2 window seal with a self adhesive on the gate itself. That way the glass will seal once it makes contact with the seal. P.S. from your pictures it looks as though the canopy could go ahead a bit on the drivers side. Not that it's appears it will make a difference in your case . Good luck.
Awhile ago I looked at shells online. While I havn't seen one up close, Century's Royal cap seems to address this problem by using a "all glass double curved rear door (industry first)". Their web site could use better pictures, though. http://www.centurycaps.com/index.php?p=royal.php

I have a Lear 100xl fsw on my 04-FX4 and it doesn`t look anything like that. That cap is on wrong or it`s the wrong cap for your truck.Mine was 1100$ and it fits right.
