FX4 owners and those w/aftermarket flares

I just got a set of flares like the ones on the FX4 for my XLT. I am concerned about sealing them to prevent corrosion. For those of you with the FX4, is there a seal around the fender flare or something like that. Pics would be great. For those with aftermarket flares, did yours come with any kind of strip to seal out water, salt, ect. Or should I worry.

Thanks

I just went out and looked at my FX4. The flare fit is very tight, but I found one small area with a slight gap. I could slip a credit card 2" into the gap and can report that there is no seal or foam tape, etc. If you're pretty handy, I suppose you could carefully lay on a thin bead of black silicone marine sealant. I would at least use a sealant on any screw holes you have to drill into sheet metal. Good luck.

DRG3...I second that finding...no sealant of any type, and a very tight fit.

Personally, I wouldn't put any sealant (foam, etc.) in there because it might trap moisture. But like likalarry says, I would put some schmutz or corrosion preventive compound in the holes you drill in the fender (not that the boyz in KC did when they drilled mine!).

And by the way, welcome to FTE...a great site for serious Ford Truck owners!
