If I recall correctly the plastic piece on top of the tailgate arches rearward beginning (I think) in '08. Then they require a special "tailpiece" (can't think of the correct name) at the bottom of the cap's door.

Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully I can use the same glass and just change out the tailpiece.
Changing the tailpiece doesn't seem difficult. There are only 4 screws holding it on not including the cables on each end. I'll call Leer next week to see how much the part would cost. Hopefully it's not too expensive.
On the ARE caps it is held on by ~6 pop rivets. I really disike the "tailpiece" on my ARE for my '11 XL. While driving I can see daylight through the tailpiece gap in my rear view mirror. It doesn't leak while driving but a driving rain while parked gets in. My biggest concern is dust from dirt roads but that hasn't been put to the test yet.

My Leer is the same way on the 2 ends where it flares, it doesn't let water in but cruise on a dusty road and the dust will come inside. I
cut 2 pieces Styrofoam corners from a package (feels like the material used to wrap water pipes) I received and slip them on the tailgate at either end, then close the window, that stopped the dirt from coming in.
