E4OD slow to shift into OD?

Howdy all. I have a '93 F250 with a 351W and E4OD with 104k miles that I recently did a fluid and filter change on, probably a month ago and maybe 4k miles. In the last week it's been a little colder than normal here, read as being into the lower 40's at night (hey, it's Arizona), and for whatever reason the truck seems to not want to shift into OD the first time after starting driving. Typically it shifts about 45mph during normal acceleration, but that first shift it now holds around 2k RPM's and won't shift into OD for a few extra seconds.

I've checked the fluid level a handful of times in the last week and it's always the same, right where it should be, and there's no evidence of leakage.

The truck is used for occasional towing, and at least when I drive it I won't use OD when towing unless I'm at speed, 55 or better, on totally flat landscape with no hills in sight. Otherwise I have OD turned off, so I think I've been pretty nice to it.

This is the first truck I've had with the E4OD. The only other auto's I've owned have been AOD's and 4R70W's, so I'm not real familiar with troubles or quirks this tranny has if any. About the only thing I'm sure of about it is that they're not cheap to fix.

So what do y'all think?

some people have problems all of the sudden when they change the fluid... My E40d on my 91 bronco was shifting funny for a little while after changing fluids... Give it a couple weeks after changing and see if it improves..

I'd give it a bit and see what checks out. No apparent shuddering is there? Did you get a flush when you changed the trans. fliud? There could be a bit of foreign matter just csught in there somewhere. Does it shift when you release the OD lockout immediately?

No shuddering or any other weirdness. It still drops right out of OD if you click the lockout, and shifts smooth going into OD every time except that first one when the truck is first started.
