E40D not shifting

E40D not shifting
First let me say that this is a great site. I've been searching it for about a week now. And the info and knowledge is very impressive.
I have a 1996 F250 7.3 PSD. Last week the OD light started flashing and it would only shift from 1st to 2nd so i brought it straight home and started searching the web and manuals. Then I changed the filter/fluid and the vss/rabs. I reset the comp after. Now it still won't shift past 2nd but the OD light won't flash. So I can't go get the code read. I also changed out the steering column thinking it might be a broke wire or short in the manual lever. thanks for the help

Have you checked all the electrical connections on the trans. Look for corrosion, fluid intrusion, loose or bent pins/sockets in the connectors.
You'll need to get it on a scanner to determine if the shift solenoids are functioning.
I smell a rebuild in your future....sorry.

Thanks for the fast reply. I have looked at the connections. but did not look at the pins just made sure they were still connected. going to look right now. as for the rebuild i was affraid that was gonna be the answer.

well i work at a ford dealership in vermont thats who i got it through i paid 2500 for it id like to get 1000 out of it to help with my swap im in the proses of puting a 5psd in mine i have all the papper work to go with it and it has a 3yr 100,000 mile waranty parts and labor on it i just dont want it to go to waste sitting around
