My "75" has recently developed some noise in the tranny that I can hear through the shift lever while it is in 3rd gear.
I can hear it mostly as the RPM's are rising and even more so during deceleration. All other gears are fine. Fluid level is fine.
I am ready to pull the tranny, but before I do, any input on this problem.

well man, my second is really loud and gets louder with the rpm increase. I filled it up with fluid but the thing won't stop leakin from around the top. the gears may be goin out anyhow from abuse from a prior owner or even you if you abuse it. It has to be the tranny and I imagine it is the internal gears.

My 5 speed leaked from the top where there are some rubber plugs that dry out over time, I would have to add fluid every time I changed my motor oil. I changed the fluid and put a bottle of Lucas transmission treatment in it and it stopped my leak, It has been over a year now and I have not had to add any fluid, it must soften up the rubber plugs.
mine is a cover that has a cork gasket but to get to it I would have to rip up the carpet. Not my idea of a good time, I will try the stop leak though.
