I changed the fluid a few months back and the tranny was working fine before the change. Now the tranny stays in 1st when put into (D). I can manually put it into 1st and 2nd and it will comply and reverse also works. It just wont shift into 3rd gear.
The tranny has always shifted hard when put into (D) and (R) when warmed up.
When I changed the fluid I replaced the pan gasket and put it at 12inch torque. Now the pan is still leaking and seems to be leakin from the shifter and towards the torque converter area. Im talking quart size puddles.
I put a new filter in when I dropped the pan, I put lucas trans fluid in and didnt realized until i read the bottle it said "not for Type F transmissions"
Could this have messed up something in the transmission. AAMCO told me that 3rd gear had to be replaced and they would do it for $1700. I think there wrong because it wont even move from 1st gear in drive.
what are yalls opinions
There is 1 long bolt that could screw up the works if in the wrong spot.
The usual cause of pan leaks is from a distorted surface.
Bolt holes get pulled up.
I wouldn't let AAMCO flush my toilet.
can a governer or modulator be a issue?
I have vaccum to the modulator but not sure if the mod is working or not.
