hello this is my second post in this forum.
i have an 86 F150 with the 351w (5.8L) 4v HO carburetted engine.
i have a question about rear end ID.
i was wondering if any of you have a link to a site where i can run the numbers from my id tag?

The ratio?
If so, The numbers on the bottom left of the metal axle tag show the ratio the next number would be a 9 for 9" ford.
All the other numbers/letters are just ford numbers
Date/Plant of build/and bearings applicable.

it auto put a smiley on there.
how would i tell if its an open or trac lock?
so would my ratio be 3.18?

You can also check your truck ID plate. It's found on the driver's door frame. Along the bottom of the plate (which is just a plastic tag) there is a code for the axle that will be something like C9....something like that. Your truck owner's manual decodes that for you. If you dont have a manual post what you find here and we'll decode it for you.

I don't know where you are getting that "S" before the "3"
Traction lock rear in a 3.25:1 ratio would read from the bottom left like this:
3L25 9 ???
Now, A NON-Locking rear of the same ratio would read:
3 25 ???
What code does it say on the Door frame Data sticker ??
