i have a 84 F 250 with a blown up 300 6. i want to put a 351w in it. it also has a 7 1/2 ft fisher plow on it and i live in the hills and want the power to get up the hills with the blade on. i know the gas milege will suck but will it work? or would i be better off with a 302. will that bolt up too? its a 4 speed manual. will either of them motors bolt up to my tranny?thanks
too bad about the 300.
The 302 will SUCK big time(you might make it up without the balde touching anything)
The 351W will be better but, a done up 400 will be real good for that.
From what you mentioned, the Windsor is best, IMHO
The bell housing on the tranny is the same for the 300, 302 and 351W. You will need to remove the towers mounted on your cross member and get a set of mounts that actually mount behind your cross member for the 302 or 351W. Just build your 351W to give as much torque as you can get...the 302 and 351W are very similar, but I believe you'll get more of what you want from the 351W. Add a cam and try and get some good heads and you should be able to climb them snowbound hills pretty easy.
