rear end question.....

I'm in the process of changing rear end fluid. I believe I will need a gasket. I need to know what type of rear end I have. This what I can tell you, that I have 8 lug bolt pattern. Where would the ID number or some id be located at? If I need a gasket or not. Please advise. Thanks.

10.25" Sterling axle. You can use the make a gasket RTV, Black preferably, rather than buying a new gasket, but it is up to you.

I just went through the same thing yesterday...I was going to use a gasket too, but when I took the cover off to drain, you could tell Black silicone gasket sealer had been used.
I just used the Black silicone again..

Thanks alxanmr......Sterling, is that Ford also? Will go and buy Black RTV today. And do that this week. Differential Lubricant recommendations?
