does anyone no where i can get some engine mounts for a 350 to put in my 72 f100 shortbed, and any info on putting the 350 in a ford is greatly apreciated thanks
why are u putting a 350 in there? hell, put a 428,460,302,289,300,240,but dont put a GM engine in there, that is a punch in the face if u ask me,just my opinion
but i think u should be able to fab up ur own fairly easy, cuz i know that no one makes parts for that swap
This is a Ford truck site and we think putting bowty motors in our trucks make them puke. As far as truck motors go Ford has been on top of that heap for many years running.
We will happily discuss installing a 352, 351C, 351W, or even a 351M, but not a 350.
I work on Chevy 350s and other GM V-8s and all I can say is why do you want to put a motor in your truck with the freeze plugs UNDER the motor mounts and the spark plugs UNDER the hot exhaust manifold. The only thing worse is probably a Citation V-6 2.8 with A/C.
The Ford with a separate starter relay on the fender is much more reliable then the Chevy where the whole wiring harness hangs off the stud on the starter. It is almost as bad when GM had their whole electrical system hang off their horn for 20 years.
A guy around here is trying to sell his Ford tow truck from his service station with his Caddy V-8 in it, that he starts to brag about at the beginning of the ad. By the time he finishes telling everything that is wrong with the GM engine, GM transmission, and GM rear end you have to laugh at putting a GM drivetrain into a Ford truck. It makes the truck just about worthless to anyone except for him.

he's just gonna have to fab some mounts for the engine and he can probably drill some holes in the tranny crossmember, make a driveshaft, and be done. not too hard ,just takes a little of his time............... if he's gonna use an automatic! a manual would be a pain to make all the brackets for the clutch setup.
Thanks guys the only reason i want to put a chevy engine in it is cause the 350 is the cheapest motor to work with and i allready have one, my truck has a 240 now and is runnin like crap i dont wanna put any more money in to it cause it just dosent have the power i need to get around.

Does the 240 need more than a tune up? When you say it runs like crap what exactly do you mean? You will be puting some money in to the 350 by buying mounts, a matching transmission if you don`t have one and alot of other items such as rad, exhaust, etc to make the 350 fit where it doesn`t belong. I am not a big fan of 6`s of any kind but the cost maybe more than you think to swap. Still seems to me like a good option to sell the 350 and think about the 240 if you don`t want to spend too much on this truck on a 302/351. Check it out both ways carefully and then decide.

Bro. You have been listening to them air head bowtie owners, and are big time misinformed. That IS NOT SO. There may have a few rods that it could have been applied to, but that does not apply to your year truck.
If your motor is so great your buds will be happy to buy it off you for big bucks, and you wont have to bugger up a real truck. IMHO
If you want a chevy motor, get a chevy truck. If you are going to keep your truck, stay with Ford, we are all purists here.
D
I agree, don`t bugger up Ford tough with C***Y stuff! It doesn`t belong there. Hope you get our point and build a nice Ford in the end. The 240 maybe a blessing the way fuel prices are going, some were great economy motors tuned right.
Yea there is no way i would ever sell my truck, its in awesome condition i got it from vegas and there is no rust to speak of, it was my first truck/vehicle i got it when i was 16 and now im 19 i dont drive it anymore cause i have a integra to get around "better gas mileage" so my truck is just sitin with a cover over it, and i want to bust it out again. I have the transmisson for the 350 and everything i need, i got it out of my dads 55 chevy!
