Hey guys,
My E-brake went out on me this afternoon. I have a 94 F-150 4.9L 5 spd. I pressed it down and heard a pop. I have no pressure on the pedal but the brake still works and does not rub when the truck rolls. The brake light constantly stays on even when the brake is off. Do y'all have any suggestions?
Thanks
I'm just a new guy, but ya broke a e/cable. Lite stays on because
the switch on the cable/lever assembly is now closed.
Yes - your normal braking is not affected.
well, I know my normal braking is not affected, but my e-brake still works too. I put it in neutral and my friend pushed the truck and it didn't move with the e-brake on. Then I released the e-brake and the truck rolled. That's what has me wondering. Is it hard to replace the cable?
I would check out the foot lever assembly for the parking brake. My truck's lever and release assembly is always doing something weird on me. I read that there was a re-call a long time ago on these assemblies for not working right.
The cable splits, I think. One cable comes from the pedal and then hooks onto two cables, one for each rear wheel. It's possible only one cable going to one wheel broke, or the associated hardware inside one drum malfunctioned.
This would allow the pedal to go to the floor yet you would still have some resistance at one wheel.
I got up underneath of my truck and everything is still working as far as the cable goes. I think there is something wrong with the actual pedal mechanism itself. Is there a spring that may have popped off? The pedal does not come all the way up by itself, I have to pull it with my foot. Any suggestions? Thanks.
