I remember something about Fords brake controller/ braking system not working with RVs having Disc brakes when they started putting the controller in the trucks. What years where they and what was the fix? Am I remembering this correctly?
Rather than go by years, I would suggest checking with the manufacturer of whatever system the towable has you are considering. The RV industry turns on a dime so what one model has in a given year, may not be what another one the same year has (I run into this a lot). Search the Internet and the RV groups and see how it worked for them.
As I recall, the trucks now have a controller setting for hydraulics and maybe someone can say when they came into play, but I still would not trust it to work with all RV components. The manufacturers really don't play very well together. My after-market controller does, as do several others.
The original controllers didn't work in 05 but i think by 07 they did but not sure, the newer ones you just go into the information center and change it to what you want. Most of the actuator manufacturers make a adapter box to work around the problem or you can do just take two brake magnets strap them to the trailer frame and wire them in parallel with the actuator, that's how GM owners worked around it until GM fixed their system. The controller just wants to see current draw from magnets, the actuators just wants to see voltage, its heavy current draw is from separate source.
