289 temp. sender help

Dave. I put a brand new sender in the motor. Plus the gauge has been professionally repaired by an auto electrician. The 289 is out of a 65 ford falcon XM. I earthed the sender wire to the block and the gauge went all the way to the hot side. I am thinking maybe the gauge is not compatable to the sender unit because these cars did not originally have v8's in them (the american equalivalent did). They originally had a 170 ci or 200 ci six cylinder engine in them. Maybe I just got a dud sender. Sorry I am cheating with the car type a bit, i do have a f100 though.

Yes, my guess would be a bad sender, i've gotten them bad right from the parts store. Just make sure when you screw the sender unit into the intake that you don't use teflon tape.
