hello, i was given a d9 351 block and internals to rebuild into a 393 as soon as i can find somebody with a 3.85 stroke crankshaft. i got long tube headers, and want to use an xe274 cam, ported to 1252 intake gaskets and oringed world products windsor jr. heads with roller rockers, dual plane intake and either a holley 600 cfm or an edelbrock 600 cfm carb with this. can somebody tell me if this setup is working together. i have a feeling the 600 cfm carb is too small anybody know. this will be in a 3000 pound 5 spd. vehicle. this is going to be a 393 stroker. does anybody have a 3.85 stroke crank laying around. the valves in the heads are 1.90/1.60 i believe and they have a 78-62 cc chamber. if i don't stroke this out and keep it a 351, would the carb and heads, cam be enough. thanks
If you have Windsor Jr. heads, their combustion chamber size is 58cc's. What pistons are you planning to use? What size are the rods? What dual plane intake do you have? A Weiand Stealth is a great intake, it will support you up to 7000 rpm's. A 600 cfm carburetor is too small for your stroker application. Since this engine is going into a light vehicle, you may just want to move up on the cam size. The stroker can handle it better since you will have more cubic inches to feed.
i was thinking of the weiend, this is going to be a street driven vehicle with track time in i's future, i am going to use the stock 351 rods and some sort of flattop 302 pistons along with the 2.85 stroke crank to make the 393. you think the 600 carb could have the main body swapped for a bigger one. what cam do you think would be better, how about one of the nunati voodoo cams. anybody know.
not sure on compression 9.5-10.5? i meant 58-64cc's in my first post. i found some gt40 y aluminum heads with roller rockers for 600 bucks and i want to get them since they are the same price. if i can get ahold of the seller. i can't seem to find anybody with a used 3.85 stroke crank to make the 393.
