400 mounting issues

ok, im very stumped on this one.... i have a 78 400m truck block thats going into a 52F2, so i ordered a new cross member for 73 and up 400 blocks.... and no way this thing come close to fitting, and it didnt fit the 351c mounts that were in the truck when i first got it, and has actually never fit in anything except a sub frame designed for a late 70's 460..... does this make any sence to anyone? and would it make sence to get a 460 cross member?

If the conflict is the oil pan, you could try a different oil pan. There are both front-sump and rear-sump oil pans available for the 335-series engines.

Can you re-position the crossmember fore/aft to line up the holes?

Did the crossmember include engine mount brackets? The brackets are specific to the crossmember. Truck brackets will not work with a car crossmember, and the 400 was not available in trucks until MY1977.

yea i did some more digging and it looks like the 400 truck block is very diffrent then the 400 car in how it mounts. i also realized the motor mounts on the block are for a car... and there is one that is designed for this cross member, so i guess i will making a few phone calls. still curious though to why its so diffrent between truck and car blocks, and pre 1977 and post 1977 blocks. but thanks for all the help bubba!
