Drivetrain questions
I have a 78-F-250 that I just put a 429 engine in . I have lots of power now but the gas mileage still is real low. I am thinking about either taller gears in the rearends or better yet a 5 speed overdrive transmission. The quandry I have is the transfer case that is married to the transmission. Is there an easy retro-fit or do I have to get something with the transfer case already mated. Please help-if anyone has done this before, please contact me. Thank You-Ron

With a F250 4x4 and a big block 12 MPG is real good mileage 10 mpg seems be normal. i'd go with the 5 spd and leave the gears alone, or get used to it.
