I beleave the T18 has the same bolt pattern as the NP435.
If so, there are a few different ways. Mine I used a 351M bell, 360 flywheel, pressure plate, and disk. I also had to use three spacer plates between the engine and trans and do a little milling on the pilot bearing.
Another way I know is to use a bell, pressure plate, and disk off a newer ford (I can't remember what year 1978 or 1986). Ford only did this set up one year so they are kinda hard to find.
Another way was to use a bell off a 400, but I am not real sure what was all used here.
Sorry for the foggy reply, but hopefully this will trigger others to get involved and give you better answers.

The 351m and 400 are the same. I know several guys who have done this swap and they reccomend using the heavy duty 390 flywheel for the bigger clutch. I'm not sure what the spacers heep had to use are all about, I never heard anyone mention that. Be cautious using the newer stuff from the juice clutch equipped trucks, alot of it is different.

I had to use the three spacers in mine because the splines on the input shaft of the tranny would hit the brass pilot bearing in the back of the crank. In other words the input shaft was to long when used with the 351M bellhousing.
I have changed out three engines and two trannies using this setup and have had the same problem. (The change outs weren't because of the goofy spacers). It works for me so I am happy.
You are right. Using a bigger flywheel, disk, and pressure plate then the 360 stuff is the key for high horse powered rigs, but not a big deal (at least in my case). I have used the same pressure plate and disk know for 10 years, or two wore out engine from many miles. I do get clutch chatter if I stuff my foot in the carb.
