Let's talk about boats. My boat message board is down for maintenance and it's killin' me. I know some of us have our trucks to tow our boats with.
Who's got what? Do you fish, cruise, ski, entertain, poker run?
Where are your favorite places?
As my name suggests, I used to have a Baja. It was a 2001 25 Outlaw with a 496MAG HO.
I've since sold her and I just bought a 35' Cigarette with twin supercharged 509's, 1500 horsepower.
I have to say, Florida boating is incredible. I love it here. I used to be from NJ though, used to boat on Greenwood lake, lake hopatcong, the hudson and Lake George NY.
I don't have one, but I want one. I want a row boat. No motor, just oars - something I can row out to a lake, fish, and bring back home. I've had my eyes out, but there's zilch here in NJ. Probably not looking in the right places.
i have a 28' fountain with a 502 horse 502c.c. crate motor, and a 32' formula with twin 454's, also a 26' wellcraft with a 350cc., and one more... a 28' or so rinker with a 454cc. oops... im sorry i was just day dreaming those were my boats, but my friends are actually the ones who own them, i just get to ride in them. they pay the $300+ a month payment, plus insurance, plus 200+ a weekend for gas... i almost bought a boat but since i have all those to ride in every weekend... why should i spend my money?
that first fountain i mentioned is the fastest of all of them. the 502 in there is a crate motor, put in while he rebuilds the race motor. the race motor was putting out 740 horsepower, and i guess the boat did 93 mph. now with the 502 it only does 75 mph. unfortunatly i never got to ride in it when it had the race motor.
we go out on the saint croix river every weekend when its nice out, and even if it isnt so nice out... we boat to an island, and set up the tents and campfire for the night. its the only thing i look forward to as much as i look forward to deer hunting. i love boating
i have 2 right now , a bayliner 175 on greenwood lake , and a albemarle 268 xf for down the shore, the albe has a 496 mag 375 hp mercruiser to a bravo3, sleeps 2 easy, inclosed head , bad part is 175 gals of gas and 7500 lbs when its towed. the little bayliner is the screw around fish or ski boat, used to have two war machines a 1964 52 matthews with 2 903 n cumaparts. and a 1987 ocean 48 ss with a pair of dd 6-71 tibs at 485 hp each now that is a fishing boat
what are you in rating? my dad and grand father were captains on the big sea going tugs . both had unlimited oceans licenses. mine is 100 ton near coastal.
gramps even had a cheif engineer of steam to 1500 hp license
A 12' Penn Yan canvas over cedar that I'm restoring (refurbishing actually). It's a sweet pond/lake, row-small motor, boat that I use to fly fish for Trout and Bass. It saw service in many ponds and lakes in Northern Maine, and will be used here on Cape Cod. I never put a motor on it but I will be using an electric trolling motor in the Spring.
I used to haul it around in my 52 F-1, but that's gone now.
'94 Astro 17SCX w/a 135 Merc OB.
I spend a lot of time fishing the Hudson & Saratoga Lake.
Lake George is usually a nightmare, so I don't bother with it.

baby tugs? party boat i run has 5000hp out of the 4 v12 mtu's
I also work on boats for a living and don't want a big boat. I have a 71' MFG "Niagra" runabout a whopping 14' 4'' with a Johnson 48 spl. It's a real fiberclassic, neat little boat for the river, I wouldn't take it on any bigger water.
Not baby tugs just old. Great lakes tugs. They all use to be steam powered but in the 40s-60s they were re-powered with diesel. Gm 12-278A, GM 8-498, GM EMD 12-567, GM EMD 12-647 & 16-645. With GM/DD 2,3,4-71s providing electricity
