We have an older 16' Glastron. If things go as planned, we hope to move up this spring. The boat we are looking at will probably be 18.5 - 19' with either a 135 - 150 h.p. outboard or a 4.3 litre inboard. I had been looking at a 1996 Mariah that looked like a pretty nice boat and have also been considering Searay. We don't have deep enough water here for a bigger boat than this and its a good thing 'cause our pockets aren't that deep either.

96 Sprint 262 with 88 HP outboard, 2 fish finders front and console (16' 3") Super for fishing the Savanaha, Clarks Hill, and Hartwell lakes in Geaorgia. Just waiting for another nice day to get on the lake. Might go tommorow after chires are done, supposed to be in mid 50's.

Nothing is more depressing than talking about boating in January especially up here in Southern Indiana. I cant wait to get back out wakeboarding this summer behind my buddies Bayliner (I know, a real high class set up). But the boat show is in Louisville this weekend so maybe it will be enough to tide me over... either that or drive me over the edge!

1970F2504X4- It's tough to find a real rowboat these days- almost everything (such as an aluminum boat) is designed for a motor, which generally makes for a lousy rowboat. I like to build a flat-bottom skiff out of plywood and fiberglas it. I've built lots of them from 8' to 20'. It only takes a weekend to slap one together. There are a lot of plans out there for plywood construction using fiberglas to join the seams- Stich 'n tape they call it. You only need a tape measure, hammer, and some kind of saber saw. I've also built real rowboats with a rounded hull of plank construction- lotta work there! I'm between boats, unless you count windsurfers, but I'm gonna build a 20' dory skiff- kind of a big flat-bottom rowboat designed for a motor.

28' Chris Craft Stinger, with two built 383 strokers, with tuned exhaust going straight out the transom. I'm considering a pair of blowers, or liquid cooled turbos.

my tounament walleye boat is a 20 foot starcraft pro elite. it has a 225hp merc optimax and a 9.9 mrec bigfoot kicker. a minnkota 75 autopliot bow mount eletrict trolling motor. for finders i have a bottomline tournament master 5300 w/GPS on the helm and a lowrance 2400 on the bow. the boat has forward and aft airated and timed livewells and baitwells. it will run 65mph at sealevel with a 21 pitch lazerII prop, want to get a 19 pitch tempest, i think that will squeeze a little more out of the top end (my max WOT rpm is 5800 and with the 21 pitch i can only pull about 5200)

Here's my Boat.

[IMG][/IMG]

It's a '75 Spectra 18 Jet. It has a 403 Oldsmobile engine in it. It's a little slow right now (53mph), but I'm working on an engine to change all that.

Which boat boards do you frequent?

I have a Mako17 Sportsman Edition. Just had the 110 HP Johnson re-built by the brother in-law. It really sucks having a brother in-law who owns his own boat buisness and is the only MOBILE factory trained/ authorized tech for OMC/Bombardier in Miami. Also have a 17 foot Bass Tracker my budy gave me when he got his new boat. Gonna yank the side console and make it a tiller for the Everglades back country.

"the faster you can go...the longer you can fish"

ps. optimal trolling speed is 1.7-2.2 mph (in most cases)

i sed to work in the boat bussiness. i was a outboard mechanic at a evinrude dealer who also sold lund, invader, skiff-craft, starcraft and old-town canoes. the bad news was that it was a family owned bussiness and i was the only one there who wasnt family, so when the economy got tight about 9 years ago and things were slow in the winter, guess who had to sit out for a month or 2? my boat is short and simple, a '94 old-town 12' katadin with a 3.3 johnson outboard on a outboard mounting bracket. just slide it in the truck, no trailer licence, lights or wheel bearings to worry about. fast? dont know, but for a canoe it moves well. when i go out by myself i have to put three 5 gallon buckets full of water in the front to keep the nose down or i cant see cause its in the air and will take water over the rear. the motor started out as a 2.3 hp but i compared the 2.3 and 3.3 motors and the diffrences were, point setting, carb and prop. easy hop-up. my folks have a '77 starcraft with a 75 hp evinrude that i restored when i was still at the boat dealership, i take it out once in a while.

Here's my baby.... :)

This is my restored 1957 Arkansas Traveler, 15ft aluminum v-hull front/flat bottom rear.(That's me on the left, with my son and wife, and my father in law on the right.) It currently has a restored 1954 Johnson Seahorse 25 horse electric start motor on it.(With Forward, Neutral, and Reverse.) And I tow it on a restored 1958 Tee Nee trailer with tear drop fenders. It was all restored by me, with parts help from my father-in-law. I need to update my gallery pics. It's not a racing boat or a bass boat with all the bells and whistles, but it floats, runs and it just feels good to give these old pieces new life! Not too shabby for my first try, if I do say so myself. (Didn't know the first thing about boats and took about 9months to restore it all to working condition.)
