FLgargoyle : Well good to find another wooden boat guy on the truck site .
The Gougeon Bros. of wooden boat fame are second cousins and now market most of their products as West Systems . They are now in Bay City Mich. but got their start in Texas building Sailing Ice Boats . They now also market 3 of the worlds leading World Cup Sailing Race Boats and the USA's wins have been in their product .
The other half of the family still build Lapstrake single mast sailing dorys in Rhode Island the same way the family has been making them for almost 200 years starting in Scotland's Shipyards .
They made their fortune by inventing and patenting the wood polymers that later developed fiberglass as thin laminated wood polymers are stronger and more flexable than any other product to date for hulls just not as competitive in the cost department for commercial sales .
My old Cruiser Inc. was also built by a little known company in Wisconson of great renown in the wooden boat community . She will still have the tourists
walking past all the twin 454 Scarrabs or Donzi's at the dock for a once over when I pull in to fuel up . The old through hull exhaust will get them every time eh and I bought her in mint condition in 1990 for $2000 Can and a promise that I was going to keep and use it not strip it for the Volvo and Teledyne accesories .
As I said It's a pleasure to see someone here that is into the old jewels and
you should contact me by E Mail as the Mahogany sawdust from these boats
has thickened my blood since I was a very young lad growing up in a town that services the 30,000 Islands of Georgain Bay and most lads could dock a
V Drive 30' inboard before they could ride a bike .
i am a big fan of parker boats. they are a no bull edited boat. they dont have all of this edited that most boat manufactuers install. great seaworthy boat

how about a 1964 matthews, inclosed flybridge w. twin 903 comaparts.wish is till had her. i used a lot of your familys products on her , but the biggest thing i miss is that wood hull ride on the ruff seas and the slap of a wave against wood not glass
I have a '02 Thunderjet, 20ft. A 350 vortec chevy engine. (Which, by the way, will blow the transom off a 351 redline Ford) I get a grand total of 3.5 mpg, but that's the curse of the jet. I run mostly the Snake river here in Idaho, so I need to be able to run in just 15 inches of water sometimes. If we don't get some more snow in the mountains, next summer will not see much boating, without a river to run on.
what are you in rating? my dad and grand father were captains on the big sea going tugs . both had unlimited oceans licenses. mine is 100 ton near coastal.
gramps even had a cheif engineer of steam to 1500 hp license
What companies did they work for? I currently work for Baydelta Maritime in San Francisco escorting and assiting oil tankers. Here's some pics if you want...
I didn't know they had water in Oklahoma.... nice boat though.
There used to be a State tourism commercial here that said Oklahoma had more shoreline than some state that bordered the ocean. I don't remember which one, we do have a lot of lakes though.
I have an old 84 VIP with a 120 mercruiser. I have redone the interior and repainted the trim to match my truck. It is definitely not new but it gets the job done. It pulls the kids on tubes and skis and it pulls the fish out of the water. I get a lot of compliments on how nice it looks. Now that you have me thinking about it i can't wait until summer.
Nothin' like 2 feet of snow and sub-zero temps to make a person dream about boating- or seed catalogs!!
I gotta agree with FLgargoyle...it's a loooooong ways to go befroe I have to worry about boats! I won't even been thinking watercraft for another 4 months!

they both worked for the dl&w and erie rail roads then co captained a ocean tug bringing coal up the coast from va. the first tugs i rode on with them where steam and later diesels. what a ride for a young kid back in the early 50's
We have a 1986 Mako 236 CC with a Volvo Penta TAMD40A diesel inboard. During the last week of July and August it was getting a new turbo and had the fuel pump rebuilt all for 5,000 greenbacks. With the addition of a T-Top and a dodger its a fishing machine. Join and support thehulltruth
I'm what I refer to as a "recovering boater" I sold my last boat in August of 2000. I towed it with my then truck, a 1999 F-250 SD with the V-10 engine and 4.30 rearend. Man that could tow. The boat was my dream boat. I special ordered it from Sea Ray. It was a 1997 250 Sun Dancer cruiser with the 7.4 engine and Bravo 3 drive. Use to cruise the New York State canals and up to Lake Champlain with that boat. Those were the days. I was an active United States Power Sqaudron member with a bunch of courses to my credit. I'm still boatless.
I have a 1995 Ranger 372V bass boat with a 1995 Mercury 2.5L EFI motor that has a high five stainless steel prop on it. have owned the boat since it was new and it is proudly towed with 2 differnt ford trucks. one we tow it with is my 1997 F150 reg cab long bed with a 5.4 in it and the other is my grandfathers truck a 2004 F150 extended cab short bed with a 5.4 in it. i just wish ranger would start advertising ford trucks with their boats insted of those ugly chevy trucks. plus the number one bass boat being advertised with the number 2 truck is not very impressive.
