My bro and I just got a little Bayliner and put on a wakeboard tower, we are just very into watersports. We wakeboard, waterski, tube, wakeskate, etc. off of it.
And yes this thread is depressing being that it is January (and I am stuck inside because of the blizzard), the boat is shrinkwraped, my convertible is put away, and I just got my brand new Liquid Force wakeboard and bindings in
feels a little warmer reading and thinking heat and boats. here in nj every thing looks the same right now, white! looking at my boats in my back yard is depressing at this time of year. whens the next boat show here?
all i could afford was a 2001 bayliner capri 160. it has a 50 horse merc on it. bought it new for 8995 and that included the trailer. was a little skeptical at first but it really is a good boat. it planes off very quickly and will do almost 40 mph. it will pull a 200 lb skier and tube anyone. the whole package weighs only 1900 lbs so it is easy to tow. plenty of room for a 16 footer. take it to greenwood lake and lake hopatcong mostly but have been to lake george and scroon lake N Y.
now that im all excited about boating spring better come soon.

18' Starcraft center console, 75hp Evinrude w/a 6hp Johnson kicker. All set-up for fishing on Lake Ontario by Pulaski, NY. I love fighting a nice 30+ pound King Salmon!!
Hey Expy. I lived in Sandy Creek for years. In Pulaski before that, and Adams before that. About the only things I miss about that part of the country, are the people, and the fresh water fishing. The salt water fishing down here is a lot more intense though, and once you hook onto a big tuna or grouper, a salmon or steelhead will never give you the same thrill. I was going to go fishing today, but we're having 40 knot winds, and the temp went from 60 to 28 overnight.
I know what you are saying there sport . Try that 30 pounder on a 9' Eagleclaw
Graphite rod and Penn salt water reel while long lining with about 300 ' of lead core line out to get down to the thermal cline in summer without using a down rigger . Great Lakes Fishing at it's finest .
Those big Steelheads in spring also present a good challange up around Manatoulin Island in Lake Huron .

Wow, small world! I grew up around Port Ontario & Pulaski as a kid during the summer. My grandfather owned a summer home along Mexico Bay. Two years ago, I had the opportunity to buy a summer home along the same area and jumped at the chance. Let's just say the boat sees a lot more use on Lake Ontario than it did when I had it here in PA and down on the Chesapeake Bay. Ugh, is it summer yet?
steve you have said it nothing more intense, then salt water big game way off shore on stand up,giant blue fin or a sword. jerry you to are right about big fresh water on light tackle, i have used your products , they are great man. come on spring time . no can't wait, i'll just have to make a cod fish trip

Now that's what I'm talkin' about! I've discovered over the years that I'd rather work on a boat than use it. I love classic boats as much (or more) than classic trucks. Hey Jerry, are you one of the Gougeon Brothers I've read about in Woodenboat for years and years?
Great thread, I'm glad it took off. I'm enjoying this considering it's damn cold here - though I have nothing to complain about, looks like a bunch of you have some frigid and harsh weather this weekend.
I have a 20' Maxum bowrider w/125 outboard. Crusing and fishing. We usually go to Carters Lake here in N. GA. and tie up with a couple of other boats, swim and picnic on an island.
