OK. I have a stock height, and stock rims (15 x 7.5, I think is what came on the 93s) And I'm wondering how Big of a tire I can do. I'm thinking about a 31 x 10 is the largest I can do.
What do you all think?
Also an recommendations would be appreciated.
Such as where should I shop? What brands are preferable? Etc...
But, I'm not 100% sure they were doing this with Stock Rims.
I'm more concerned with the width than the diameter. 31" is good enough for now, but what is the width I can pull? 10 maybe 11?
32x11.50's will fit under most 92-96's with very little to no rub. Sometimes a small bit on the radius arms at full suspension compression. But you have the width to contend with. The best rule of thumb for tire section width is no more than 2.5"-3" wider section width than rim width. So, 31x10.50's on a 7.5" wide rim are the limit. Many tire manufacturers will not recommend going any wider without a wider rim and the preferred maximum leans towards the 2.5" rather than 3" size differential. Some will even refuse to honor warranties if the tires are mismatched to the rims.
As for manufacturers, thats a completely subjective answer and you will get as many opinions as there are tires out there. Personally, BFG All-Terrains always rank high on my list. They wear very well and have superior sidewall construction over most competitors especially when price-compared to comperable tires.
By the way, Pendor, nice truck...looks like an old friend of mine...

Wow. That is very similar to what I want to do with my Bronco. I notice the clear turn signals up front. It's funny, My clear turn signals just arrived UPS yesterday. I also love the rims. What kind are they and where did you get them?
The only differance between what you did to yous and what I'm planning for mine is the chrome. I am going to black out all the chrome above the wheels. The Wheels and the running boards are going to stay shiny, but the grille, mirrors, side moldings, bumpers and the wheel well moldings are going to be blacked out. Well, actually I'm going for dark fender flares to replace the wheel well moldings.
Here is a full picture of my truck.
Some of you eBayers may have noticed it for sale there before Xmas. That is how I found it. I didn't bid on the auction, but I bargined with the guy over e-mail when it didn't hit the reserve price.
It may look like nothing' special now, but wait till spring!
The wheels on Greystreak were Mickey Thompson Challengers 15x10 with 33x12.50 BFG All-Terrains. My gallery "In Memoriam" has more pics of her. And if your stomach is up to it, you can check out "Trial by Fire" as well to see her current condition.
I have stock rims on my 95, and I'm running a set of Big-O MT 31X10.5X15. I really like the tire, and it has a nice aggressive look on the truck. They told me at Big-O I could probably get by with 32's, but I stuck with the 31's just to be on the safe side. BTW, my other choice was the BFG MTs, but I went with the Big-O brand because of the road hazard replacement warranty.
Im running 31 x 10.50 goodyear trackers and there is absolutly no rubbing and i have a 94EB I feel that i could probably run a 33 x12.50 but i want to find some used tires to test fit them first.
33 1250-15 will fit with a 15x8 aftermarket wheel with the correct offset on a stock bronco in the year range that you have.
It may fit but no tire maunfacturer will recommend it. (Some won't honor warranties with that setup). Rim size is nearly 2" too narrow for the tire. Hit a curb and you will blow the bead unless you are running severly underinflated...like off-road pressures. Just a safety issue for me. I suppose you can run it that way but its not advised. Up the rim size to 10" and all is well. Backspacing of 3.5-4" will take care of most of the potential rubbing.
Many have run 33's with littel to no rubbing by shimming the front bumper forward. Again, the concern in running tires that are 2" bigger diameter is that your 3.55 gearing will cause major lag in the hill-climb and freeway-passing department. Not to mention mileage will worsen. This is not speculation, I ran 33's with 3.55's for a few months...thought somebody had stolen my V8 and dropped in a 4-popper.
if u wanna go 33's without lifting the truck u most def. have to change the gears . most stock broncos come with the 3.55 the bigggest they recomend u go with thpse gears is 32" tires so if u do the gears and are also into off roading and are lookin for that extra torqe at the rear wheels its always suggest to go a gear size over than what u need. remember if u have 4 wheel drive, u also have to change the front gears too. i have a set of 35x12.50 on a 15x10 wheel and am putting 4.56 gears which should bring it back to stock gearing for that truck with the big tires. my friend had like a 92 bronco lifted 3" wit 33" tires and he didnt do the gears but the truck had no *****. and another question lol hows ur transmission is it slipping or making any kind of noise while shifting up and down on the automatic lol. do u feel lucky is the question to ask yourself. if u dont do the gears then if ur transmission has some use and wear, u can say good by to it.
