Yeah one of my favorite movies that he made. I too remember that line " Heres a quarter, go downtown and get a rat to knaw that thing off your face."
I like that big old Merc he drove. Everyone doing a duck and cover when he stopped the car. All that white smoke tells me a head gasket or cracked cyl. head. Burning the antifreeze.
I too liked Planes Trains' and Aotumobiles.
Uncle Buck is hillarious. I watch it whenever I can find it on the TV or, if the mood gets me right, on DVD as well. There's so much good stuff in it, you can't possibly pass it up....
"Do you think it's the hat? A lot of people don't like this hat...It makes 'em.....angry."
Does anybody remember Pal on Uncle Buck, the guy that was talking to Tia at the bowling alley?

John Candy was awsome in SCTV,Strips,Summer Rental,The great Divide ( I think that's what it was called ) and Wagons East. I did'nt like Canadian Bacon. But I think Uncle Buck was his best. , and Planes Trains and automobiles.." Those arn't 2 pillows " lol. I think he played a small part in Home Alone as well. I'm sure I missed a few of his films. God bless you John......you made alot of people laugh, the world needs more of your kind.
Oh man, I had forgotten all of the great stuff he did back at SCTV--one of the best tv shows ever! Yosh Shmenge, Dr. Tongue (and his 3D House of Horror), Mayor Tommy Shanks, and my all time favorite-- Farm Film Report With Billy Saul Hurok (It blowed up real good!).What a talented guy he was.
Great guy, John Candy, even if he was Canadian. (With modern medicine, that can be cured now. ) Too bad he left us so soon. I couldn't believe he'd been in 59 movies:
I liked him in Speed Zone, when he goes to park the silver car, and then driving all that way with the guys fiance or girlfriend, laugh a minute!!!
I just saw parts of the unedited Planes,Trains, & Automobiles, I have to buy it now!!! I had only seen it on TV a few times before.
The part in Uncle Buck when the boy is interogating him is hilarious!!!
I saw an awards show or remembrance show a few years back where the whole cast of SCTV came on stage and told a few memories of how they would all renegotiate their contracts, except for John Candy(he made more money), and they had to share dressing rooms, except for John Candy, and basically the punchline of the joke was "except for John Candy" and John knew about it, it was a running joke between them all for years and they said farewell to him by saying something like,"We are happy we could be here tonight, except for John Candy". I thought it was sweet of them to let the public in on the joke and send him off like that. They told it better than I can remember it. Did anyone else see that?
