I am curious as to whether anyone here is using a Palm Pilot (or similar) with a bar code scanner. We are considering using them for our sales routes to keep better track of sales and inventory. I would also appreciate any suggestions along these lines as well.
To give an basic idea of our needs, we have a franchise sales route where we go out to local businesses and sell food and snack products to people at their work place. We have 2 vans making an average of 25 stops per day. At present we use a simple log sheet to keep track of sales, and normally just add the prices up in our head at the time of purchase. Use of a scanner with the right software would allow a better and faster system. It is very easy and common to miss logging a sale on the sheet manually. A printer would be nice for receipts, but not a necessity.
