How do the climate controls work?
On an 1985 F-250, the heater only blows through the dash vents, no floor heat or defrost. Is this operation controled by a cable or is it vacumn activated?

Was your truck made with factory a/c? If so, then it's vacuum controlled. Non a/c truck is cable controlled. I'd assume it's a a/c truck. Check that you have no engine vacuum leaks. Find the vacuum line that goes into the firewall and check that there is vacuum at the source.
