I just got a good used ISSPRO R606 pyrometer, and I am wondering if it is self-powered from the Thermocouple? There are only 2 terminals on the back of the gauge (one is marked with a + symbol).
The thermocouple (R658HT) has a red and yellow wire. I assume one wire goes to + and the other wire goes to the unmarked terminal. Unfortunately, I don't have the installation instructions, and ISSPRO's website for these instructions is currently down (at least for the R606 gauge).
Which wire (Red or Yellow) goes to the +(plus) terminal?
I have autometer egt gauge, black wire to ground ,red wire to power, wires are coming out of the back of gauge. Two wires, red & yellow ,connected from the gauge " threaded studs " to the thermo cupler in the exhaust manifold. The white&black wires connected to the bulb socket for gauge lights
Isnt there a plug for a control box on the back of the gauge? Mine has thebox that you mount under the dash that plugs into the gauge and then the thermocouple plugs into the control box. You might be missing a part.!!
I too had a similar situation. This gauge still make me wonder some. Just follow the color codes. Red goes with red and yellow goes with yellow. The thing that threw me was they have a light bulb but yet I still have to wire up a 12v+ and a ground of the led's. My tranny temp is much brighter than my pyro, which supposedly has twice the lighting. Guess it is just one of those things. I am really happy with the gauges and I hope you have the same experience.
Problem solved! I called ISSPRO, and the yellow wire is + and the red wire goes to the other side. This gauge is self-powered, i.e., the thermocouple is actually a milivolt generator, and the pyrometer is nothing more than a milivolt meter calibrated in degrees F (and C).
