The only time-consuming part was replacing the inner anti-rattle strips (on the door panels). They are installed to the inner door panel using staples, which must be removed carefully so as not to crack the panel.
I have a Sears "industrial" stapler (read manual stapler with stronger spring), but it could not punch a staple all the way through the anti-rattle strip AND the panel. So I saved as many of the old staples as I could, and used the old strip as a pattern to mark the new strip. I used a very small drill bit to punch holes in the new strip at the same places as the old. Then I pushed the old staples through the strip and then through the old (existing) holes in the door panel. Using a pair of needle-nose pliers, I bent the staples over tight against the back of the panel. I used some of the staples that came with my stapler to replace the ones that were broken. Worked very well, and the truck is really quit now.
I also replaced the "felt" window channels at the same time. The door glass doesn't have to be removed from the door, but I had to loosen the channel adjustment bolts in order to get enough space between the door glass and the metal channel for installing the new "felt" channels.
If you still haven't found replacement parts, email me at
