OK for what it is worth - I have owned two 2001 F150 Supercrews 4WD - set up the same - even the same Michelin LTX MS tires -- there were alot of difference between the Bilsteins and Edelbrocks
Bilsteins - noticable firmer ride - took corners much faster - felt much more in control - better ride than stock - wonderful to TOW - rock solid
Edelbrocks - 1/2 way between Bilsteins and stock for firmness - a lttle better all around ride - handles large bumps easier / smoother -- poor tow shock - maybe even worse than stock shocks
That is what I have felt -- now that should get everyone talking
My '04 Crew Cab has 8800 on it and I finished the front & rear Bilstein install this weekend. I hope to get a sense of the new feel on the way to work this morning. However due to the ice & snow on the roads around here, I probably won't get a complete sensation of the improvement.
my F150 screw bed shakes over small road bumps, bumps just small enough not to move shocks, but transfers to my bed. are these shocks soft enough on initial movement to maybe stop the shake?
I think you'll find the B-shocks will be a tad stiffer than the stock mush-*****.
Read Bick MT's decription of the Bilsteins. He nails it.
By your description of the bed-shake. I don't see Bilsteins as the fix. I haven't noticed any bed-shake on my CC. Maybe you need to check the tightness of those bed-bolts Ford is so dern proud of?
I am going to put a set of RS9000s on my truck that is when Rancho gets back around to making them. That way I can have a nice soft ride or a nice firm ride.
What model of Bilsteins are you guys using. I looked at performance products catalog and noticed the "B"s have a silver set and a yellow/blue set. I'm assuming that the yellow set is the premium set due to the price difference.
The true test will be on a Super cab with the longer wheelbase. I am concerned that the "wobble" I get from time to time might get worst. I am thinking of putting on the Bilsteins on Monday. Maybe the 2.5" after I find some wheels I like.
The longer wheelbase "should" yield a smoother ride. In my opinion, the wobble should get better...more dampening making less ability for the truck to keep shakin'...just a theory though.
You've probably heard it before but, if you already have the leveling kit, I'd throw it on at the same time...much less work that way and again, in my opinion, these trucks look a ton better level than raked. You can run your stock wheels and tires for now and it will look fine. Then when your ready to put on some new and bigger shoes, you're all ready to go!

I don't think Bilstein makes the silver series for these trucks yet. If I am not mistaken, the silver ones are for performance lifted applications. I have the yellow ones on my CC. I think the silver bodies are "51" series or something like that. I would like to hear if I am wrong on this and someone could point out part numbers for the 51's. Thanks.
