PATS Bypass Options for Remote Start
PATS Bypass Options for Remote Start
I am having a Viper 791XV Remote Start installed in a 2004 Ford Expy EB and have been told that I need to do one of 2 things:
1. Buy the Directed Electronics Generic Bypass Module (Part #556U) and a Third Key to Use with the Module; or
2. Buy the Directed Electronics Ford-Specific Bypass Module (Part #556S) where I do not need another key.
My questions is whether the Ford OEM PATS Bypass Module (Part #1L2Z-19G365-AB) will work instead with the Viper System (a Directed Electronics Product) or is that module ONLY for a Ford-dealer installed remote start system (i.e. Code Alarm)?
Thank you.

Yes the 1L2Z bypass will work with ANY aftermarket remote start system, it just won't be a direct plugin like it does with the Code Alarm units. Only two wires the red one goes to 12v constant, and the black one would go to your (-) out when running I think DEI's term for this is (-) status output. Good luck,
Mike

hi, i just installed a crimetopper system into a 2002 mustang and i used a ford specific bypass ( PKF II ), and it worked great. it does not need its own key installed into it. all you have to do is use two working ignition keys, and it will learn the correct transponder resistance through a series of cycling the ingnition very similiar to programming an extra key. they are rather cheap also, i think i paid around 35.00 . let us know how it works out !!
