Fuel pump not working- why??

I put in a new fuel filter and my fuel reservoir thing isnt filling up, and my fuel pump isnt turning on! Ive checked all fuses and theyre good. Is there any sort of relay or anything i need to check? Could i just crawl under the truck and hook up a 12v battery to the pos and neg side of the pump to see if its bad? Anyone ever replaced one? thanks

Yes, you can test the pump with a battery. They're easy to change if it's bad.

well what I did is I turned my key on (forward) and I put a 12v testlight to the pump, and it isnt lighting up. What could be preventing the fuel pump from getting power?

Pump operation is controlled by the PCM. Does your wait to start light come on with the key?

Actually now that I go and look, for some reason the wait to start light ISNT coming on when I turn the key on.

Someone said something about an inertia switch? Can you tell me more about this

Look in the passenger footwell for the inertia switch reset button.

You might also check your fuses - on the earlier 7.3s the fuel heater and PCM shared a fused so when the heater shorted out you got the symptoms you see... but I'm not sure if the Superduty 7.3s have a heater that shorts out as much, or if it shares a fuse with the PCM.
