1. Food that doesn't agree with the cat. Even I either puke or get the runs when I eat something that my stomach cannot handle.
2. Cat is eating too much too fast. Ask your vet about different foods that will help your cat.
BTW, grocery store cat food is like feeding feces to them. All kinds of dyes and fillers in there. I didn't believe it until some of the cat's food ended up in the water dish and it changed colors of the water. After that I'll only feed Hill's Science Diet or Iams to a cat.
I am a dog person. I grew up disliking cats, but over the years, I have grown to accept them. Some I even like, but not too many. I would never harm a cat, but I would not want one in my house either. I wouldn't mind an outside cat though.
Most of my dogs have been outside dogs too, but they did get to come in the house on occasion, behaved well and were house trained too. I don't care for wild unruly dogs or ones that yap all the time. Labs are my favorites.
We don't have any pets right now. I have had other pets, hamsters, frogs, a turtle, and a guinea pig, but dogs have always been my loyal friends. I spend alot of time visiting and playing with friend's dogs when I go to their places to visit. Seeing the dogs is usually as much of the fun of being there as spending time with the friends .
Becuase they are not dogs. I just don't understand what you see in an animal that is mostly indifferent and does what it wants when it wants. I have a theory, if you are a male and love cat's (no, you are not gay) but if you are married, I bet your wife runs the household.

Well its not #1, the cat loves the food. I dont think its #2 either. This cat has extra thick fur. It sheds on everything. Thus, it gets hairballs. We feed it hairball control formula, and even have plants for it to chew on (we planted some grass in a bucket). Trust me, we've tried everything. We got it down to once or twice a month, so its tolerable.
Ya know guys ... it's Christmas Eve. Can we mellow out on all the "hate" and "strongly dislike" thoughts for one night? This just isn't part of the spirit of the season. There have been several threads already, expressing why we like, dislike, or hate something. There's already enough of all of the above present in the world without having to indulge it here ... at least for tonight. Geeze.
I very much DISLIKE cats because they try to climb on my vehicles and leave scratch marks in the paint down to the bare metal. They also scratch the windshield.
Agreed.
I used to leave my windows down all the time, but one day I got in the truck and saw that a cat had went through some trash I had in there.(Fast food bags). It REALLY thrashed everything. The thought of a cat, a stray one at that, in my truck really makes me mad.
They always jump out of nowhere. I was getting some tools and suddenly this cat jump out of a shelf!! Really shocking. I don't like touching them either. They just don't seem 'playable'.

There is another theory that I prefer. If you are male and love cats, it is probably because your personality is similar to a cat's. Meaning you are independent and if your woman doesn't treat you right you'll straight up leave and find something better.

why is there a cat thread on this board? its should be catalitic coverter!! but just for fun, i hate the other cats, all they do is scratch your hoods up!
The first cat i had about 12 years ago...he was all black and i got him when he was just a kittin... Now he was great. He got along with the dog (A female lab/golden retriever mix) very well. The dog would pack him around in her mouth when he was little like he was her pup. That damn cat would play with you all day long, we was house broke and would do his business outside, just like the dogs. we had a doggy door, and he learned how to use it. Now needless to say, we had him fixed and declawed, so he never really scratched anything up. he would run around on the cars all the time and leave little footsie prints everywhere, but never sctratched them up. he never bit anyone hard enough to hurt them..he would bite sometimes when you played with him, but that was more of a "I got your had in my mouth now" and was never meant to hurt. he was great cat and the entire neighborhood liked him just as much as we did. unfortunately, he was hit by a car and we had to have him put down. Out next cat came before the other one was put down. She is a female calico (however you spell that) and she has been around for YEARS im not sure how old she is, we got her as a stray, she just showed up one day and was playing with the dog...and never left. Since then that old dog has passed away...she had as hard of a time letter her go as we did, you could tell she wasn't happy for a long time. And thats when we got another dog, she was 2 years old when we picked her up at the pound, a pure bread black lab. Those 2 get along very very well and they love to play, not only with each other, but with everyone in the neighborhood as well. on December 13th i rescued a 3, 2 week old chocolate lab pups... Now...neither one of the pets we had liked the pups... i had to raise them for a few weeks on the bottle and they didn't like the lack of attention they received. Eventually i gave 2 of them away, one to my girlfriend and one to a family friend. And i kept the largest male. He is now 4 months old and loves to play with the cat and dog, and they lov ehim as well. Every night, the cat will sit under the coffee table and jump the pup as he walks by..and then the fight is on. Niether one is out to hurt the other...they just like to play all the time. But its funy watching them in the yard..the cat chases the pup around, she knows she is the boss. The old black lab will play sometimes too...
but as far as the cat tearig our house up...well when the dogs get to rough housing...they do more damage than teh cat ever has. yes..she still runs around on the cars...but we have never found any damage to any of them, and ive never caught her on the counter (i have caught the dogs tho) and she does not stink the house up.
no one ever has complained that the house stank or smelled of the cat.
not only does the cat make a great companion and pet, but she keeps some of the allergic family away...and when they live accross the street........
THANK GOD....
now if i can get hte dog trained to bite the next door neighbor ill be doing good.
I just have never been too big on them, I am a definate dog person, i love the companionship of a dog. I have had one cat that I like, well, scratch that, two, the second died not soon after we got her, fell out the window, hid in the underside of the car, well, you see where this is going, the other one i have liked thinks he is a dog and fights with my moms 2 dogs, funniest thing you will ever see, declawed cat at about 20-25lbs(big cat) against dogs that are 50-100lbs(big dogs, lol). The one cat that really soured my experience was one that passed a few years ago after going crazy, had to put him down. He got out one day, someone left the back door open. He was gone for a week and wound up hiding under the back deck. Apparently i was the only one that wasn't afraid to go down there to get him, it's disgusting and there are always tons of snakes everywhere in our backyard. Well, i get him out and i go to hand him to my stepsis(she was the only one he liked) and as i handed him to her, he decided he was going to bite the **** out of me, caught my knuckle and tore a nice chunk out of it. needless to say, i had nothing to do with him, it was all my dad could do to keep me from killing him right there, that cat and i had had a few previous engagements as far as him biting at me or actually getting a hold of me, when i was minding my own business. But thats not the reason that i won't own a cat, i think they are too much work for what they are worth. a dog, turn him/her loose outside, let em do their business and go about your day.
I used to have dogs and say the only good cat is a dead cat. Not anymore. I have always had pets and some years back I had to put my last dog, a mixed Golden Retriever, down. Unfortunately, where I live at that time had a rule, no new dogs. So I went to the pound and adopted a cat, yes, a cat. Best thing I ever did. This guy has never in the 8 years I have had him tear up any furniture. His stuff, he tears the heck out of, but not the furniture. Other than being sick occasionly, which my dog wood do sometimes, never a mess. The first day I brought him home, he hid under the couch. Middle of the night, I hear a noise and realize it is him using his litter box. Then he goes back under the couch. Took a day or 2 for him to get acclimated.
I will say I don't miss getting up in the morning when it's 10 degs out and walking the dog.
All in all, if something happens to this cat I will get another. I will say either he is dang smart or whoever had him before, trained him well.
I have 2 cats and 2 dogs. Cats are always indoors and the dogs are in the house all night. Our house does not smell like pet from either the dogs or cats. We don't have accidents with either of them, expcept for the occasional furball or barf.
The cats don't tear up our furniture.
They actually have to dogs under control!
I can leave for days and not worry about the cats or the house as long as there is food, water and litter.
I cannot leave the dogs for days at a time, they would eat all their food at once and starve for the next few days.
Both the cats come to their names
Both cats have been trained, one even used to fetch on command!
Bottom line is I like both cats and dogs although I've had cats much longer. I've only had bad experiences with one cat, and it was our roommates a long time ago. She adopted a stray, nothing more need be said about that cat.
