I don't dislike cats at all and my post might have seemed that way. I hate that people are hygenically challanged enough to not realize that their houses stink like pi$$. Very few cat owners live in house that doesn't . Most people say not my cat but, yet everyone notices it but them. I like watching that show where they show a house to sell it and before they fix it up and listen to recording of people touring it. Amazingly alot of people notice who has cats and who doesn't. Hygenically ALOT of cat owners are disgusting- Why anyone would want to live like that I do not know. I have known people with dogs that were like that, just alot more rarer. If you have a cat chances are everyone knows it without you telling them. Now the people with 25 cats in their homes well that certainly is another story..............
Wow, that seems like the complete opposite of everything I've ever known. I go into a house with a dog. the instant I walk inside, I smell dog. Cats are clean. Cats don't pee all over the place unless they aren't allowed to go outside, or you don't clean litterboxes for 3 months. My cat has no scent. I've had him for 8 years, we've never had a problem, ever. No one even knows we have a pet.
you feed a dog
love a dog
shelter a dog
he says "you must be god"
feed a cat
love a cat
shelter a cat
he says "I must be god"
I would say I dislike cats.
and I am allergic to them
but I am also allercig to my dog, but he's worth it
onetime I left the window down on my my folks suburban when we were out at a friends house,
they live on a gravel road, it's like the white chalky kind of gravel.
and when we came out there were about a jillion and three little white cat paw prints all over the interior of the car, and of course I had to wash it.
I like cats. Deep fried w/ sweet and sour sauce, served with rice noodles.
OK, OK, I've had a few different types of cats. The friendliest one we had was a British Blue, acted just like a dog. Our tortoise shell is OK, as long as it's on her terms.
I don't mind cats at all- we've had them over the years and enjoyed them. I'm just a dog person. Why?
1) A previous Lab grabbed a toddler by her overalls in our backyard and anchored her by sitting down so she couldn't escape through an open gate to the front yard (and the street).
2) Our second Lab prevented a home break-in. Twice. Once our home, the second time a neighbors. When he sounded the alarm in the middle of the night, the neighbors didn't complain- they check out their windows to see what was going on. I think that dog helped a good number of the neighbor kids to learn to walk (they'd grab his fur and stand up, and he'd always stand still and let 'em). When we finally had to put him down, half the neighborhood cried with us.
3) Our current Afghan Hound is very intelligent, self-aware, expressive, and vocal (he's really tries to talk). Reminds me a lot of a cat, actually. Unfortunately, he's also the size of a small farm animal, which intimidates some of the neighbors, but also the local coyotes.
4) The "new" dog, a Golden Retriever pup, is showing signs of star quality. He should- he's got two great teachers, our Lab and the Afghan.
Nope, haven't had a cat for three years, and can't say I miss 'em. Couldn't imagine life without the dogs though.
What is a guys favorite pet?
1. a cat
2. a dog
3. a dog that eats cats
I'll take #3
I guess that lets you know my thoughts on cats. The reason I dislike cats are outlined in many of the abovr posts, and the fact that the house I now own used to belong to cat owners. After cleaning up that mess I don't think any would like a cat.
Hate is a word that I try very hard to keep out of my vocabulary. I am one of the people who do not particularly care for cats. Primarily for hygenic reasons. They climb on the kitchen counters, (after they have walked through their feces), they urinate wherever, rarely in the litter box. People who say their cats do not get on the counters, either watch them 24/7 or are naive. Cats are not smart (every study relates animal intelligence to brain size) their independence is related more to their small brain than to any thought process. Years ago cats were kept on farms to keep the mouse and rat population under control, which they did very well, but not as house pets. Because some farmers did not keep their cat population under control, many ended up having to live off songbirds, baby rabbits etc. Recently on a college campus the cat population became such a problem that the songbirds and other small animals were dissapearing at an alarming rate. When the xchool attempted to curb the population, some of the students staged a protest (ie: an excuse to skip classes and get on TV), the school like all of academia immediately gave in, so the problem still exists. Lastly, their claws (a primary weapon) because of what and where they walk are very dangerous. A scratch from a cat can rapidly lead to blood poisoning. I have no argument with anyone who has a cat and takes proper care of it. Unfortunately their are to many who let them roam at will and become a nuisance.
At least a cat can survive on it's own. I am independent and I like how cats are. I love cats, there awesome.
EDIT: And if you have a cat that urinates everywhere in the house then it probably doesn't like you. Be nice to them. Be really nice. My cat meows to go outside to urinate, etc. We don't even have a litter pan. They are neat little suckers but NEVER be mean to them or any animal for that matter. It's kinda like you never underestimate mother nature.
The difference as I see it between dogs and cats is who goes to the training. If you have a dog, you take it to obedience training or hunting training or whatever you prefer.
With cats, the owners should go to training to learn how to get along with their cats!
I like cats. I have one. And my cat is an indoor-only cat. My house does not smell - in fact I challenge anyone here to come to my home and tell me I have a cat without seeing it. But I also know the opposite is true with some people. People that don't realize you have to change the litter once in awhile, that getting a cat declawed does help your furniture stay looking like furniture, and that cats have personalities they don't feel a need to change. You have to adapt to a cat and if you can't, then maybe a cat isn't for you.
But that doesn't give you the right to eliminate it as a species!
Generalizing that all cats urinate all over the house is the same as saying all dogs dig holes in flower beds and urinate on every tire they see. Hogwash.
I agree with the above ... be nice and show love to any pet and you will recieve the same in return. My female Siamese box trained their own kittens and cleaned up any messes the kittens made. They would pick the kitten up and take it over and drop it in the litter box, then jump in with them, do their own job and the kitten would then do their job. I have never had to train a cat to use a box.
A cat has a strong sense of smell. If the owner doesn't keep the box cleaned often enough, the cats will be disgusted and usually will go next to the box until it is changed/cleaned.
I also find it difficult to imagine why anyone would hate cats or dogs. Too many old wives tales going around methinketh. And a poor animal owner is the cause of a poorly trained animal.
We, here in Kalispell, recently had a guy arrested and charged with animal cruelty for going and getting kittens from poorly trained pet owners. He then took them and taught his hunting dogs to chase them and tree them. He would then shoot them out of the tree and let the dogs tear them apart. In court he cried and whined that he'd learned his lesson, but I'm willing to bet the farm that he will just be more secretive about it.
Any person that is cruel to any animal probably stands good chance to abuse people, also. THAT is a fact, proved and documented, of many incarcerated serial killers and wife beaters.
I am a dog person, and there are 5 main reasons why:
1. I'm alergic to cats
2. My dog doen't eat everything he finds and then vomit it up the second I try to lay down and go to sleep.
3. A cat isn't your pet, you are his pet.
4. When I chain my German Shepard in the back of my truck, I can rest assured that NO ONE is going to mess with my truck.
5. Dogs are so loyal that if you were to die in your house, the dog would stay by your side until he ran out of food and starved, while a cat would simply eat you.
Any person that is cruel to any animal probably stands good chance to abuse people, also. THAT is a fact, proved and documented, of many incarcerated serial killers and wife beaters.
My Dad, who got along with almost everyone, always said "Watch out for people that don't like children or animals. I don't have any us for either one of 'em." Like with many other things, the man knew what he was talking about.
The problem with cats is they do not stay home! Our wilderness is giving a good home to all of the WILD housecats. The (SNIP) eat our songbirds, quail, and all manners of small animals squirlls and what not. I shoot the sorry things every time I see one of them in the forrest. They and ferral hogs are having their way with our wilderness. And around the house? If your house cat comes over here... he ain't coming home no more!

Reason: masked profanity
I've got one inside cat. It generally thinks it is a god, and is treated as such. Declawed, and wouldn't go ouside even if you let it. Leave the door open in front of it, and it runs the other way.
