BTW, even on these newer eletronic marvels, I think it's still possible to simply ground the temp sender wire to see if the gauge is working. Maybe one of the other guys will know for sure.
Yes, that's the one thats wired to the temp gauge. On older trucks all you had to do to see if the temp gauge was working was to remove the wire from this sending unit & ground it beside the sender & if the temp gauge showed full hot, it was working as it should. Not sure if you can do this on yours or not.
Strange that the temp gauge not working would give you a PO126 (not going into closed loop) maybe one of the other guys will know whats going on here.
The engine coolant temp sensor is the one that controls open/closed loop operation. It's located near the temp gauge sender, but I can't remember right off which one is which. I'm thinking that the gauge sender has 1 or 2 wires and the coolant temp has either 2 or 3...?
Or maybe the T=stat is stuck open & it really is running cold.
This too is a possibility.
