D-MAX Forum

Wow..

I surfed over and signed up to the D-Max forums. Now being a die hard GM person all of my life, I am surprised the same issues that got me to leave GM in 1995 are still being talked about in the new forums of current GM Truck owners.

My last GM was bought in 1992 and I changed to Ford in 1995. I hope this sheds some light on people when I post defending the 6.0 because I have seen both sides.

I just signed up for chevytruckworld.com under the alias "6L stopms your DMAX" for a few cheap thrills and a couple laughs. MobeyDick was over there as well...seems like a popular hangout.

I wonder what would happen if over 75% of their posts started coming from Ford drivers. lol

I went over to the other side just to see how their complaints were . And they were complaining about everything . Even doors that were sagging . And injectors being replaced .

That is what amazed me. If you look past the engine and trans.....doors, electrical and other issues are still the same as they were since the late 80's.

In one year on my 89 I had 2 alternators and was on my 3rd heater fan. Still an issue I see from the forum, plus other wiring issues.

Guess my 03 ford is not that bad after all....and the body is not going to rust off the frame like my earlier mid-70's truck did. I could just see the forum if Ford trucks rusted out in the first 3 years of ownership.....

I just came back to ford. Had a 98 K1500 and I couldn't keep brakes on it or door handles. I replace the drivers outside handle 4 times and the inside handle 3 times in six years. I really don't think that chevs are to be use twenty or thirty times a day. This 05 SD is one bad truck. I can't believe how nice it is to drive, and the ride and turning radius is awesome. Thanks FORD for a nice truck.

i was a ford man then went to cheby in 01 because my family is GM. had a loaded duramax, crew cab short box with a 6" lift. was a very good looking truck but spent 4 months straight at the dealer. over the 2 years that i owned it, it spend a total of 6 months at the dealer. i called GM's cumtomer support line and all i got was a, sorry your truck has been in the dealer so long. now i am back with ford and will never look back..

I drove a 2005 D-Max LLY 315HP and 605Tq, YEAH RIGHT! Ask my buddy after getting outta that junker it was like getting out of a Cessna and Jumping into a LearJet. The chevy had the same gear and was a extended cab 2500HD. Seat of the pants meter was un-impressive. Even my buddy who was wanting a D-Max now says he wouldn't have one. It was really really sad the tranny didn;t even impress me that much. The D-Max is much quieter than the PSD but, under acceleration it much louder than mine inside the cab. There is also little turbo noise which I love to hear my TURBO! C'mon fella's you can't deny that you love the turbo noise on our POWERSTROKES!

And always remember this slogan!

FORD MAKES IT, BUT POWERSTROKE SHAKES IT!!!

Merry Christmas to all and to all a GOOD NIGHT!

My point was that besides the power train...not much has changed at GM.

Happy Holidays

I went for the technical issue to see how things were in GM land. I did not flame anyone, that doesn't do anyone any good. If you want fair and balanced I see plenty of loop holes where the Duramax guys needed some input...

I see that plenty of the guys surf over here to FTE and report back. One thing that is funny....FTE has more members and a better forum that stays active over any site around.

And don't forget, you cant sit on the tailgate according to GM because "it is not a weight bearing surface". The sheet metal bends on the bed where the tailgate cables connect to because the sheet metal is so thin with no reinforcement!

Not a weight bearing surface. WHAT. So why have a tailgate in the first place. There cable issue has been a nightmare for them. They have a recall on them now. Some injuries have been reported with the tailgate cables snapping. Ive noticed this year theres been a lot off Duramaxes traded off for Fords at the dealers. However I see very few powerstrokes traded off for Dmaxes. Its hard to compete with a superduty with all the interior room it has. Ive been in both trucks and the GM is pretty cramped for space. Superduty owners are the most loyal out there as odds are if you have had one youll get another one. I always tell my GM friends you got to get a Ford to get a real truck. There pretty staunch though most off them like those superduties. How can you not like them. There the best truck on the road today. GMs going to always have that stigma off a bad diesel reputation like they have had for so many years. I was just over on the Chevy forum where the Ford guy here had the last post. Interesting to see the responce there. Looks like some die hard Ford guys on that thread. Yah.
