This is no joke:

I just stopped at Flying J in Eloy, Arizona for the best diesel price I can find $1.86/gal. I filled up the Globewarmer and when I came back there was a D-Max CC LB getting hooked up to a tow truck. Looks like he filled up and the rig wouldn't start after that.

This was happening at the pump right next to me, so when I was talking to the owner and his friend I gathered it was a brand new 04 w/ 7K miles.

The owner was totally embarassed and his friend was giving him the business, "Maybe that guy w/ the CC PSD will give us a ride back to town" and my favorite "I told you to buy a Ford." lol

Too bad I didn't get pictures of the DMax w/ its tail between its legs...I would've posted it on the CTW Dmax forum. No problems w/ their trucks my A$$!

Those comments and the price of diesel today made my weekend.

Check out Flying J's frequent flyer program for discounts on diesel and gasoline. My truck runs awesome on truckstop fuel!

A bunch of us were sitting in bar about 3 months ago and this guy in there with a brand new d-max was runnin his yap about how bad it was. Well then he was like I'll pull any dodge or ford in here backwards. I'm thinking to myself "dude shutup and drink your beer". Well after an hour of listening to his loud mouth I turned around and said "I got something sitting outside that will make you want to trade that d-max in". So to make a long story short he kept blah blah blahing and we went out side and hooked them bumper to bumper. Now I was weary at first cause he had an auto and I have a stick. I turned my chip off and when somone said go I let the clutch out and goosed it. HA HA, he didn't have a chance. I pulled him backwards for about 50ft and then stopped thinking were done? Oh no, ol boy tries to take off again and starts pulling me backwards. I rode the brakes a little and them let the clutch out and goosed it again and took off with him. After that we stopped and I asked him how he likes gettin stroked? He said "well that thing does have a smooth ride backwards". We did this on pavement in 4-low. My truck never spun or hopped once but his had to you would think. Obviously no one was watching him, they were watching black betty pull him the other way. The strap we had was ungodly long like a 30 or 40 foot tow strap.

Pan,
I can't believe someone really DID that with their trucks !?!?!?!

That's wild !

But isn't that more a measure of TRACTION than power ?
more linear with weight, than engine HP ?

gear ratio and wider tires versus smaller tires ?

Ya, I agree with you. We both have CC/LB 's with SRW's but mine has 285's and his had the stock 265's. He said he didn't care though. I turned my 4 inch drop upside down and put a clevis thru it so I think that helped alot

Coming from the Jeep world...
I've seen what a snapped tow rope/chain/etc... can do to a vehicle.... much less a person !
that's why NONE of my tow ropes have hooks on them... just loops in the rope....

be careful with them !

LOL I know first hand what you mean. I seen a chain and a tow rope with a hook and usually it hits the pullers tailgate and smashes it. Thankgod it ain't someone's face it hits

I've done that with Jeeps before it's pretty cool. Next time just insert the strap into your 2" reciever hitch and put a pin through it on both trucks. If by chance the strap breaks you only have strap flying not metal. Always use a strap without hooks. Pretty cool that you yanked him across the parking lot. Bet that shut him up.

Duramax is a whole new issue with the great Allison. People think the 6.0’s are a problem, surf over and start reading.

I left GM because they never listened to my thoughts. Same problems I had in 1992 are still a quality issue in 2004. I have seen both sides, so I am titled to my opinion. If GM would have had a buy back I would have been the first in line to receive a new truck, unfortunately the district manager eluded me. Playing games is not what I wanted.

If my answer does not satisfy you, I can drag you around the in the dirt arguing for years. I averaged buying a new vehicle from GM every 2.5 years since mid 70’s. Think I qualify to speak my mind?
I respect your answer and your opinion but to post how some people on other sites are having issues with Chevy HD's is a little presumptious - don't you think? I mean if I wanted to look for PSD issues I wouldn't have to look any further then the forum we are on. I mean how would it look if I went to a Chevy forum and posted a link to this site and told the user to do a search for injector related issues? They'd come away pretty scared I'd think. For the most part I don't think these forums [this one in particular] his here for such finger pointing but rather to really help folks with issues.

Wll let me see.
If I surf over to D-Max I see the Chevrolet-Ford debate. GM owners are coming to FTE...Like You..

I am tired of the 6.0 bashing....so now you have a place to see what is really going on and from being a current GM owner the 6.0L is one of the best diesels on the market. My 7.3 was good and I have to say the 6.0 is better, we will just see when I hit 100,000.

Your DMax might be just one nice truck....but it will not do anything close to what a Super Duty will out in the field, enjoy your curb jumper.
