Just in case you didn't know. You can not put the oil cap on without a filter in. If you try to push down on it you will break the button piece at the top. I was just putting the cap on to close it up for the night until tomorrow before finishing up all the work. I fished the two pieces out. Anyone have the part number or know if that button has to be there to operate correctly?

EDIT Used the part number from Ebay 3C3Z6C755AA Price is a lot better than Ebay also Engine Oil Filter Bypass Adapter | Genuine Ford | 3C3Z-6C755-AA

 

The tangs from the button (bypass valve) is what took out my HPOP. Make sure you have all the pieces. I have a new tower to install but instead I put it back together carefully after oil changes. Those little tangs are fragile and I foresee it happening again.

edit - nm - just saw that you posted it Sean!

 

I was able to fish the two tangs that hold it in place out of the hole. Ill take another good look and try to fit the pieces back in place to make sure they match with nothing missing. Thanks for the info on the HPOP. I am right in the middle of the reassembly after the STC, dummy plugs, and EGR block off job. I don't want to start over.

Useually when the stand pipe is broken they will hardly start and won't stay running.

 

Using that part number, it's $38.54 + shipping from Autonation Ford for a new one!!

Thats it. Looks like I got it all out when i matched the two pieces where it broke. Needing it running tuesday at the latest so I'll hit Smith Ford or North point tomorrow. Good group working in parts at both places if your in the area. Thank you for all for the help.
