........hey guys.....i hava 84 f-250 with what i suspect is a weak or bad injector...it does not sound like the others when you listen to it, individually....( i use a piece of copper tubing and put it on the injector)...is there any other way besides actually pulling it ....or all of them to know that is the problem....it is a real pain to get the lines loose on the pump...i don't have the "special tool"....any suggestions? still runs strong it just sounds like it might have a miss....not as smooth sounding.......
truck is 84, 6.9, pump has been turned up to where it barely smokes when pushed empty 10+%,re-timed,and 5 1/2inch exhaust,4-speed 4x4....my baby
Just crack the line loose(1/4 turn)on the injector with the truck idling, and listen to the engine, you should hear a difference,if you find one that dosent make it sound diff, its prolly bad.Wear eye protection, and gloves.
If you wanted to take them out to get them tested it isnt really that hard and doesnt take any special tools. You just have to be careful of the plastic return lines and the brass pressure lines because I have cracked one before. If loosining each injector tells you which one it is then I would just pull that one and have it rebuilt or replaced (not very expensive)
